Shotcup and other sandboxes
MicroVMs and containers give an agent a whole computer. Shotcup gives it a fresh JavaScript engine per run, which is less, on purpose: short programs start fast, run the same way twice and cost a run, not a machine. Here is what each option is, from the vendors' own pages, with dates.

What 1,000 short runs cost
Isolates billed by CPU time are the cheapest per run, and Shotcup is not: at its overage rates a run costs more than a Worker. What a plan buys is a fixed monthly price with the runs included, the sandbox around each run, and the limits, artifacts and MCP server on top. MicroVMs billed by the minute cost far more for work this short.
| Sandbox | 1,000 runs | Billed as |
|---|---|---|
| Shotcup | $0.051 | overage rates; included in a plan's allowance |
| Cloudflare Workers | $0.0013 | per-request and CPU-ms rates |
| Cloudflare Containers | $0.004 | 3 s of life at the smallest size |
| E2B | $0.015 | about 1 s per sandbox |
| Daytona | $0.019 | 1 vCPU and 1 GiB minimum |
| Vercel Sandbox | $0.71 | 1-minute minimum, 1 vCPU and 2 GB |
| Cloudflare Dynamic Workers | $2.00 | a unique worker for every run |
Computed by us from each vendor's published rates on 8 October 2026, not measured: 1,000 runs, each a fresh sandbox doing 50 ms of CPU with 64 MB; each vendor billed at its minimum size and increment, or about one second of life including boot; base plan fees left out.
One at a time
- Shotcup vs E2BPick E2B when your agent needs an operating system: installing packages, running Python or a browser, or a session that lasts hours.
- Shotcup vs DaytonaPick Daytona when your agent needs a full development environment: any language, volumes, GPUs or long-lived workspaces.
- Shotcup vs Vercel SandboxPick Vercel Sandbox when you need Linux next to a Vercel project: builds, package installs, or a coding agent's full workspace.
- Shotcup vs CloudflarePick Cloudflare when you already run on Workers: isolates are the cheapest per request, and Containers give you Linux when you need it.
